New Country by TyroneNEW COUNTRY.

“Look” he yelled. “Stop arguing and look. You never know if you’ll ever be back. It’s a bloody waste of money taking you two anywhere.” He heard his fathers voice ringing in his ears.

The young boys reluctantly following him pretended to be interested but quickly fell back to niggling each-other.

The man smiled as more words from his father arrived, and fell out of his mouth. “This isn’t a holiday camp you know.”

“What’s a holiday camp?’ asked the taller one.

“Why isn’t it?” asked the younger one.

The man replied. “What goes under the water, over the water and through the water, but never gets wet?”

The boys ran quickly to the man’s side. Matching his stride, and almost his height.

“Smoke.” said the younger one.

“Just tell us.” said the older one.

“I’m not allowed to make it easy for you. Poppy’s rules.”

“Sand.”

“No! How could it be sand? That doesn’t go over the water.”

“It’s the wind.”

“Nah. Wind doesn’t go under the water.”

And so the three of them walked together in a new country. Connecting by a conversation that came from the old country.
